{TIP #2} DESIGN THE LOOK OR FEEL OF YOUR BOUTIQUE

How your boutique feels and looks is just as important as the name of your boutique. When you start to design your space or website, you want there to be a flow that is welcoming but also encourages your customer to BUY! Your brand’s overall feel is a huge component to help you shine. Consistent messaging to your customer is also very important. Having a niche in your market is one way to do this!

If you are going online with your boutique, having a website that is easy to navigate, eye catching and updated consistently is key. Using hosting sites like Shopify make this incredibly easy to do!

Now moving on to the physical look of your boutique. There are a few main components of your brick and mortar boutique that you will need to consider when designing the layout of your boutique:

  1. Front Door Entrance
  2. Front and Forward Table
  3. Cash Wrap
  4. Dressing Room
  5. Sale Area
  6. Sitting Area/Kids Area

What is your favorite area of your boutique or what are you...

{TIP #3} HAVE A BUDGET OR CASH FLOW WORKSHEET

I cannot stress this enough - you need to have a budget or a cash flow worksheet so that you know what is coming in and out of your boutique business!

I just did a whole YouTube video on this and I will link it for you at the bottom of the post if you want to go a little more in depth. The overall idea of having this worksheet is that you can plug numbers in and know how much you need to sell to cover your costs, how much to reinvest in inventory and also set aside money for things like taxes, loans to be paid back and savings! The end goal for most boutique owners is to be able to pay themselves and if you don’t know what is coming in and out of your boutique, you won’t get there!

Here is a link to a worksheet I developed and how to use it:  https://youtu.be/iyT2-V13NsA

Time Management for Boutiques {Tip #3}

Time Management Tip #3

Write down your task list

This seems like a no-brainer but I cannot tell you how many to do’s I have missed because I haven’t written them down somewhere! Like the planner tip, this is personal preference whether it be in a physical calendar or notebook or in your notes on your phone. Either way, write down everything that you need to do!

Once you have your list written down, highlight, underline or star the tasks that are RIGHT NOW tasks. I define a right now task as something with a deadline that can’t be pushed off until tomorrow.

If you have people working for you that you can delegate some of those tasks to, do it! This frees you up to work on those right now tasks without being distracted by the other tasks on your list.

Time Management for Boutiques {Tip #2}

Tip #2

STOP SCROLLING

I know - this one is going to be tough!

Here is what I want you to ask yourself when you go to open your social media apps:

“Am I creating or I am I consuming?”

It is perfectly okay to consume some social media but it is so easy to start to go down that rabbit hole and you look up an a whole hour has passed watching TikToks.

I challenge you to limit your time spent on social media aimlessly scrolling. Keep your time spent looking for inspiration or checking in on friends. Hide your apps in a folder on your phone so that you have to take that extra step to access them. Kinzie Madsen, who was a guest on my podcast at the end of last month, gave the tip that she unfollowed all accounts expect for cute animals! You may not be able to go that extreme, but take a look at who you are following and delete the accounts that don’t make you feel good.

If you are looking to create some...

Final Facebook Live Tip - You're Ready to Go Live!

Our final tip for Facebook Lives - you should all be pros now- is to RECAP & SHARE!

There are other places where this recording can live. I like to post a lot of my live content to YouTube because I know that people can find me through that medium.

If you have a blog or a mailing list - post the link or the video directly onto your blog or a weekly email.

Share to as many platforms as you utilize! You can pull shorter clips for you Instagram feed/stories or put the entire video up on IGTV.

Facebook Live is a great, no cost way to market yourself. I know many of you aren't comfortable in front of the camera but its those places where you are uncomfortable that you grow the most. So if you are looking for a creative way to support your boutique business while you cannot physically be in your store, I encourage you to put yourself out there!
